Talk about a company that breathes health & wellness.  My only wish is that this place was closer to my home! I tried Happy + Hale for the first time the other day and fell in love with their healthy fuels! The menu features signature salads, poke & protein bowls, fresh smoothies, cold pressed juices, and my favorite breakfast meal -Avocado Toast!  I also love that Happy + Hale promotes a health & wellness in addition to all their delicious foods. Some AWESEOME initiatives they have in place right now are working with Compost Now to cut store waste down to a minimum, supporting urban farming, and they attend a bunch of local yoga events! I plan on attending the next Sunrise Yoga – if your interested in going it will be held on September 9th in City Plaza ( a special collaboration with Hopscotch Music Festivaland Kind Snacks.)

Go check out HAPPY + HALE’S delicious menu HERE!

My first experience at PokeGo was about two weeks ago & I regret not having tried it sooner! I have always been a little hesitant when it comes to eating raw foods, but when a coworker started eating PokeGo for lunch I became inspired. Located off Creedmoor Rd. it’s only 10 minutes from my workplace and super convenient for the grab and go kind of lunch. The store offers signature bowls on their menu, but most people prefer to do the “build your own.”

For my meal I started with a base of zucchini noodles, added in some sweet onions, avocado, shiitake mushrooms, and kani salad. Then I topped it off with Grilled Shrimp, Bulgogi, and a Sesame Soy dressing! It was delicious and I quickly inhaled my food.

I know that probably made your mouth water as it did mine. So go check out their menu here!

So once upon a time I was REALLY into juicing. I watched this popular documentary on Netflix called Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead which is based on one mans journey to healthy living by incorporating juicing into his diet. That night I went online and bought a juicer and began to incorporate the healthy drinks into my everyday life.

With that being said, if I’m not making a juice at home, Raleigh Raw is THE place where I’m buying mine. They offer great 3, 5, and 7 day juice cleanse packages. So whether your just looking to start or your an seasoned juicer – they’ve got you covered. Raleigh Raw is also a cafe that offers quality coffee, tea, kombucha, and poke bowls!

Did I mention they deliver to nearby locations? Check out RALEIGH RAW’s menu here.

I’ve heard great things about Gusaca, and this is definitely on the top of my list to visit soon. Gusaca is a South American Arepa & Salsa Grill that makes everything from scratch – all day every day. They’ve received raving reviews from my friends & family as well as the countless number of customers that have visited.  They offer 7 Signature Arepa’s or you may choose to build your own Arepa, bowl, or salad.

And if your asking yourself by now- “what the heck is an Arepa?” – It’s a Venezuelan bread made out of corn instead of wheat (it looks similar to pita bread used for gyros). Affordable, fresh, & healthy eats just down the road at Gusaca in Raleigh, Durham, & Morrisville.

Check out the menu here!

This is a breakfast spot I’ve been a zillion times. I. LOVE. FIRST WATCH.

Besides Chick-fil-a, this is one of the best restaurant chains I’ve ever tasted. One thing I’ve learned about First Watch over my many meals here is that they source their ingredients from local vendors. I mean, it’s SO FRESH, and doesn’t taste like your typical chain restaurant.

When you sit down the waitress will ask if you want coffee.

Say yes- always say yes.

They wont just bring you a cup, they bring you the whole dang pot! This is great for a person like me who enjoys not one, but three cups of coffee in the morning.

I love this place so much I could probably list almost every menu item, but for your sake I wont. Here are my favorite dishes:

Millionaire Bacon: hardwood smoked bacon with brown sugar, black pepper, cayenne and a maple syrup drizzle.

Power Wrap: Egg whites, turkey, spinach, houseroasted Crimini mushrooms and Mozzarella in a sundried tomato-basil tortilla.

Skillet Hash: Two cage-free eggs any style atop fresh, seasoned potatoes. You get to choose from 3 different styles of hash – Farmhouse, Parma, & Market.

If I can’t convince you enough just go look at their menu  here – you’ll trust me then.

Another tab on my bucket list to travel to. B. Good is another popular healthy food restaurant. They offer burgers, salads and bowls inspired by the seasons and ingredients rotated with the local harvests. They source their ingredients from local farmers and vendors to support the local community. I also love they they keep atop of seasonal dishes so that our bodies can keep up with a full range of vitamins and minerals.

Click HERE for a link to the Downtown Raleigh location menu. It features today’s seasonal ingredients along with kale & grain bowls, seasonal salads, and fresh burgers.

Who says eating out can’t be healthy? I hope you enjoyed this read. I’m always looking for new places to try so drop me a comment if your in the area and have any suggestions!

Salad isn’t the start of the meal. It’s the whole meal.

Chopt is one of the first places I visited when I moved to Raleigh. I love how simple the concept is, it’s similar to Chipotle-you pick your greens and go down a buffet of toppings with the Chop’t team and then they get to chopping at the chopping stations. When I approached them about my  nut allergy they brought a manager out and he made my salad personally. Great food, great service. Go check out their menu here.

Every year the City of Raleigh plants acres upon acres of sunflowers along the Neuse River Greenway Trail. However this year, they were planted in Dorothea Dix Park to bloom between mid June and early July. Earlier this week my best friends and I went to the park for a GOALFRIENDS photoshoot and some IG worthy snaps.

The City will harvest the sunflowers to create thousands of gallons of biodiesel, which is then processed into fuel to run tractors, trailers and farm equipment! How cool! The field of tall, golden flowers is expected to be in peak bloom from approximately July 4-17, and then possibly still in viewable condition for another week or so depending on weather.

So here’s my blog about the beautiful Sunflower Field & the lovely photo’s curated from this weeks shoot!

Hey everyone! Last week we ventured out to Chapel Hill to celebrate a birthday with family and friends. Our lunch pick was the notorious BARTACO, and trust me it definitely lived up to the hype. Recommended by a close friend, BARTACO is the ideal spot for any taco & tequila lovers. Bartaco is inspired by the beach culture of Brazil, Uruguay and Southern California. They are an upscale street food restaurant with a coastal vibe in a relaxed environment. As previous bartenders ourselves, we appreciated the freshly-squeezed juices, specialty handmade cocktails and beer they had to offer.

With white-washed interiors, hanging woven basket light fixtures, and rustic framed photos lining the wall, it instantly becomes a pinterest worthy backdrop! Their outdoor dining is perfect for those warm spring and summer days with plenty of cozy blankets to snuggle up in on those cooler afternoons!  Here are some pictures from our visit last Sunday!

Ben  even knew the amazing head chef Josh Coburn, who came out to greet us and make sure that my nut allergy was properly dealt with!

Now, lets dive into the menu. Their tacos obviously are their specialty (along with the rice bowls). You server will explain to you the ordering process, but to sum it up you order them how you want and as many as you want, and they come out as soon as they are ready one by one or multiple at a time!

I enjoyed their portabello  & questo taco, along with the MUST have Angus Ribeye taco (my favorite). Their selection offered other delicacies like spiced meats and fish including duck, chicken, cod, redfish and pork belly. I recommend ASKING YOUR SERVER ABOUT THE SPICY TACOS. If you’re like me and opt for less spicy foods – you may want to figure out which ones have the most kick! The majority of your options here will be foods  that have a kick to them, so if that’s your preference, this is defiantly the spot for you! Be sure to check out and try their hot sauces (Jalapeno, Roja, and Super Hot Habanero (available for purchase!).

All in all we had one of the best dining experiences you could have at a restaurant. Between our outstanding service and hospitality from the staff we would go back on service alone. However, you can’t beat a Saturday afternoon “chillin out, maxing, relaxing all cool, enjoying some tequila and tacos too.”

Looks like it’s going to be a gorgeous weekend  in the Carolinas, so go snag a table on their patio at BARTACO in Chapel Hill , or look out for their new location coming soon in North Hill’s!
