Lemonade, a cool, sweet summertime staple you can drink endlessly. Just mix in some vodka & 80 degree weather and you’ve got yourself one relaxing afternoon.
This past weekend I visited my mother in Oak Island, NC to celebrate her 60th birthday along with Mother’s Day. After our 40+ hour work weeks it was time to treat ourselves to some long overdue sand, sea, and sun. We hit the store to stock up on beer and buy ingredients for one of my favorite summertime drinks. I snagged this recipe from one of my girlfriends Brooke – hence “Brooke’s Lemonade.” It’s the perfect combination of flavor & hydration all the while catching a light buzz in the sun!
What you need:
1 gallon of water (we chose Deer Park)
1 packet of Crystal Light Lemonade (or something equivalent – I got the store brand)
1 pack of Fresh Strawberries
1 lemon – sliced in circles (optional)
1/5th of Strawberry Vodka (Smirnoff) / Regular Vodka
1 gal pitcher
- Cut the fresh strawberries in 1/2’s & remove stems
- Fill your pitcher with ice and pour 1/2 – 2/3 the fifth of strawberry vodka into the pitcher
- Add strawberries (& lemon slices ) to the vodka and let sit 5 minutes in the fridge / freezer
- Add 1/2 gal of water to pitcher & 1 packet of Crystal Light Lemonade – Stir and you are Done! (note: I prefer to use 1/2 the packet for a lemonade that is less sweet)
I love this drink so much! It only costs around $20 for all the ingredients. Brooke’s Lemonade is a terrific and easy-to-make drink you’ll want to share with your friends. As always, be careful when your drinking in the sunshine – refreshing drinks can sneak up on you! Drink responsibly & enjoy!
