Spring has finally arrived in North Carolina…or at least we think it has.   The excitement of transitioning from cold to warm weather has all of us going crazy. For us humans, this means tanning, laying by the pool, and warm nights out. But for our furry best friends this means more outdoor quality time with you!

So-  if you’re like us here at OAK+PINE- you want to have drink out with friends and your favorite pup too. That is why we have highlighted our TOP 5 dog-friendly bars in the Raleigh/Durham areas for you to check out this Spring/Summer!

1 – House of Hops

6909 Glenwood Avenue Ste. 100  /  Raleigh,NC   /    (919) 307-8870

Up first on the list is  a unique little spot right around the corner from us.  House of Hops is a craft beer retail shop with a HUGE variety of bottled and canned beers. With over 400 options to choose from you can WILL find your favorite craft beers, even those seasonal hard to find ones! Grab a 6 pack and take it home with you or stay for a while with your pup and choose from one of their 25 rotating draft beers. Even though the options here are endless and the staff and company are wonderful , what we love best about this bustling little bar is that it is DOG FRIENDLY. Your pup is welcome to cool off indoors with you on those hot unbearable days, or you can hang out in the sunshine and socialize them on the large outdoor patio that features picnic tables, corn hole,  ping-pong, and the occasional food truck!

2 – Barley Labs  (JUST OPEN!)

4015 University Dr  /   Durham, NC   /    919) 432-4597

What do you get when you mix a home brewer and a fun-loving Lab mix? You get Barley Labs, a small business based in Durham, N.C., dedicated to creating all-natural, homemade dog treats out of barley that is recycled from the beer-brewing process.  Similar to House of Hops, this beer store offers 16 taps to choose from as well as canned and bottled beers. It’s great to see a bar that supports a lot of local NC brewers as well! You may choose from a regular pint or half pours with the option to fill growlers as well. Since the owners based the concept of the store on being a dog-friendly business, Barley Labs offers toys and treats for sale, a large space to accommodate everyone, doggy mats, and sturdy hooks on the floor for your dogs leash so you can have not one but TWO drinking hands. We say amen to that!

3 – Boylan Bridge Brewpub

201 S Boylan Ave   /    Raleigh, NC   /    (919) 803-8927

“The view has always been what drives us forward, it’s not available anywhere else in Raleigh,” owner Leager of Boylan Bridge said during an interview with WRAL News. After an unfortunate closure due to a wall collapse, one of Raleigh’s favorite patio  brewpub’s has now reopened! And he’s not joking about the view, its one of your best chances to enjoy a beer and catch a picture perfect view of the Raleigh skyline. We have included photos below for your viewing pleasure. Their  patio is dog friendly and staff is super accommodating. This pictures of Boylan Bridge’s views alone will make you come running. So grab ya dog, grab ya friends, and head over for a draft and a bite and watch tonight’s sunset over the City of Oaks!

4 – Whiskey Kitchen

201 W Martin St,   /   Raleigh, NC  /   (919) 803-3181

Probably one of the coolest bars/restaurants in downtown Raleigh. Whiskey Kitchen offers a open floor plan with huge windows & a garage door opening up to their large stone patio where you can hang out with your best friend. Choose from over 300 whiskeys and pair it with one of their delicious meals such as the smoked beef rib, lamb burger, or cajun stew! By far one of the local’s favorite hang out spots to catch a drink, the occasional live music, or one of the many events they host – like this adorable Frenchie meet up a few weeks ago!

5 – Raleigh Beer Garden

614 Glenwood Ave   /   Raleigh, NC   /   (919) 324-3415

I understand most of you reading this are familiar with the infamous Raleigh Beer Garden, but we must give credit where credit’s due. Raleigh Beer Garden is one of the first dog-friendly bars/pubs on any local or tourist’s list.  The rustic-chic bar offers over 350+  local and craft beers on tap,  modern comfort fare in a bi-level space, a roof top “garden” with outdoor seating and the extensive dog friendly patio below. We visited last week for a sister/dog meet up and one of the chef’s brought us a special made  doggy burger for our pups to enjoy! Such wonderful & thoughtful staff has kept us coming back week after week. If you have yet to visit the Raleigh Beer Garden we recommend you put it first on your bucket list!
